Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we are bringing you the download link for the pre-release torrent files and the dedicated server files as well. Also in today's update are a couple of renders of some last minute equipment for both the Germans and the Americans. Finally, we will be listing some of the highlights included in the up and coming patch, as well as releasing the full changelog for 2.25.
Before we get on with the update, we would like to announce that the first round of the Mod of the Year Awards are over. We are pleased to announce that Forgotten Hope 2 is the ONLY Battlefield 2 mod that made it to the top 100 mods. A big thank you to all who voted. However, the second round of voting has begun. You can click on the MOTY link below to vote for FH2, however it is important to note that if you register with the website your vote will count more.
First up, we have the passworded torrent file. You will not be able to extract the necessary files until Friday, January 8th when the password is released. In order to download this file, you will need to use a bittorrent client. We recommend one such as uTorrent.
The following file contains the client files needed to properly play Forgotten Hope version 2.25. If you have an unmodified version of 2.2, then you will need to only download the 2.25 patch (814MB). However, if you have don't have FH2 installed at all, or if you have a modified installation, you will have to download the 2.2 full installer from the downloads page as well (2.7GB). If you do not wish to download the torrent file, a regular .exe file will be available for download on Friday.
First Strike has posted some screenshots of the new Laser Cannon, so prepare to pwn some n00bs with this beast
Quote:As we come ever closer to the next content release of First Strike it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to some of the numerous new and exciting features and assets that shall soon be made available to you guys.
First up in this update is a new toy for those of you with Rebel sympathies to play with. The MLC-3 (Mobile Laser Cannon) is a nippy little armoured unit that packs a hell of a punch for a vehicle of it's size. It's twin laser cannons are extremely efficient at dispensing with advancing infantry, and the charged maximum fire power shot makes short work of enemy light armoured vehicles, making it a versatile piece of equipment that no Rebel commander should fail to deploy on the battlefield. Eve of Destruction has released a sort of redux of their classic EOD 2.0 mod. Let's see just what they have to say about it
Quote:A happy new year to you all! We're starting the new year with a brandnew version of EoD Classic: 2.0!
11khz and 22khz sounds have been removed cause they are no more needed with actual hardware. So please configure your BF1942 options to best sound quality. This will not cause any lag on actual PC.
Charly is going to make you crazy on 27 brandnew maps (including converted and rebuild BF1942 maps) plus 4 totally overworked maps. NVA engineers have the new SKS Bayonett (replacing the knife) and at sea the GI can use the partyboat (Tango riverboat) now, including a small helipad to repair and reload choppers.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we are announcing the release date for the highly anticipated 2.25 patch which will continue to build upon our initial Normandy release. We also have three more Panzergrau re-skins and screenshots of the final map to be included in 2.25.
Forgotten Hope 2.25 Release Date!
And now the announcement you've all been waiting for! After 5 months of development, we are proud to bring you the news that Forgotten Hope 2.25 will be released on Friday, January 8th, 2010 at 18:00 UTC. We will be releasing the torrent and server files on Wednesday, January 6th.
Before we move on, let us remind you that the first phase of the Mod of the Year Awards are still going on. We urge everyone to visit our mod page at the MOTY website (http://www.moddb.com/mods/forgotten-hope-2) and vote for us! And remember, if you register with the website, your vote will count for even more.
Now on to the actual update. Today we have some screenshots of the map Anctoville which was created by Otolikos with the finishing touches done by Natty Wallo. It is on this map that players will be able to find our brand new rain effect as well, which was created by Benseras and tweaked by Remdul.
12th June 1944. British forces are advancing on Caen. In their path stands the seemingly harmless village of Anctoville. In the morning, as the rain pours down, they enter the village unaware of what awaits them. As they appear among the houses, the German defenders open fire. In the following fight the British forces must secure the village and outskirts to allow reinforcements to reach Caen. The Germans must hold this vital location to prevent the Allies' advance.
Finally, we have even more renders of the Panzergrau ('armor gray') paint scheme that we have been showing the past few weeks. This week we have the Panzer IIIJ Early, the SdKfz 251/1 Ausf. C 'Hanomag' halftrack, and the Granatwerfer 34 mortar. These re-skins were all done by Toddel.
That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.
Project Reality has released three new maps for their mod, and I must say, they look pretty good. So, if you're a fan of PR, then please give this a read
Quote:The award winning Project Reality Mod Team and Black Sand Studios are proud to announce the official release of the Project Reality Single Player Holiday Map Pack!
The map pack started life as map edits to focus on British Armour, for the Royal Armoured Corps. It was soon decided to release the Holiday Map Pack as the PR Team's Festive Holiday gift, as we don't like to leave you all empty-handed over the holiday period. The PRSP Team have done a fantastic job!
PRSP v0.87 Holiday Map Pack Includes:
* Desert Rats - Kashan Desert redux (GB vs MEC)
* Helmand's Return - Helmand Province redux (GB vs TALIBAN)
* Operation Outlaw - Brand new desert map (GB vs TALIBAN)
Well lads, looks like we've got a bundle of new stuff here, so let's see exactly what FH: 2 has given us this Christmas:
Quote:Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. This week have many renders to show off, including the P-47 Thunderbolt, the M2A1 105mm Howitzer, and some more vehicles skinned in the Panzergrau paint scheme.
But before we start with the update, we'd like to welcome Guderian to the FH2 mapping team! Guderian created the map called Villers-Bocage of which we will show new screenshots later in this news update.
And then there's two announcements to make:
First of course, the holidays have arrived. The Forgotten Hope 2 Development Team wishes you happy and safe holidays!
Second, the 2009 Mod of the Year Awards are finally upon us. Last year, Forgotten Hope 2 made it to the second round of voting, but received only an honorable mention. This year, armed with the recent release of version 2.2, we hope to take home first place! As only the first round of voting has started, you may vote for as many mods as you would like, however, if you register with the website, your vote will count even more. Read the rest...

It was the news, just so badly laid out I couldn't tell
#9 - mhhhhh - Posted by: BFGPunkbuster (Member) on 12-24-2009 at 04:52
News should be at the top of the site. I don't download any file but i read every single news. I also prefer the old design (and I'm a hevy user who visits this page four times a day ^^)
#10 - Posted by: Airaviper (Member) on 12-24-2009 at 10:55
I actually like the new style. It took me a while to get used to it but i got it figured out.
#11 - Posted by: fireblade101 (Member) on 12-24-2009 at 11:01
i dont like it
#12 - Posted by: AK74_Rifleman (Member) on 12-24-2009 at 21:04
Outside the main page and news, not much has changed, from my observation. Could have been better if they changed the color from dull brown theme to something more colorful that doesn't betray the game
#13 - Posted by: Michael_Mikes (Member) on 12-25-2009 at 17:49
I don't really like the new design all that much, the old one did need some work but this is a bit overboard.
#14 - Posted by: Millerke (Member) on 12-28-2009 at 03:31
Well.
I like much better the old one, maybe this will be as good as the old

Quote:The Siege: Medieval Warfare mod for Battlefield 1942 has a new media update for you. Sorry that we have not had a news update in a quite a while. Our developers have been busy the past few months and have not had much time to work on this mod. Please stay tuned for more updates and releases in the near future because the mod is certainly not dead yet.
Please visit the mod's site at http://www.siegemw.com and sign-up on our presently inactive forum.
As always, we are looking for new team members, especially experienced coders, skinners, modelers, animators, and sound artists. If you would like to help out, please make a thread on our forum here.
Now onto the visual part of our news update. Erwin Rommel has been working on creating all new animations for our weapons to give our mod a custom feel. Reegad has been working on getting lightmaps for our static models to produce nice, realistic lighting in our maps. Sniperjack and Reegad have been modeling and skinning new objects such as buildings, weapons, and vehicles.
Here are some renders of the new objects our team has been working on (click the thumbnail to see a larger image).

Ahh, the sea, nothing quite like it.....well except a hot-tub Anyways, BattleGroup 42 has posted some screenshots of some new ships that they've constructed
Quote:It's time again for some news from our Battlegroup42 workshop. Our team is busy working on the new version 1.7 and we can assure you that there'll be lots of new content in it. Although we can't top the record of version 1.6 we are sure that we can still surprise you.
Just take a look at our shipyard. There you'll find a brand new German Typ VIIC submarine waiting for its first mission. It replaces the one currently in use which was still from the original game. This new model was modelled and skinned by Badscull. It is armed with a "8.8 cm/45 SK C/35" deck gun, a "2cm/65 C/30" AA gun, four bow torpedo tubes and one aft torpedo tube. The Typ VIIC, also called "Atlantikboot" or "Atlantic boat" in English, was the most produced German submarine class and most produced in history with over 700 built. Read the rest...
Quote:Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we will show off with a brand new map and some newly painted vehicles to go along with it!
But before all of that, we have a special announcement to make today. Today marks the 2 year anniversary since the original release of Forgotten Hope 2, version 2.0. By now, development of FH2 has spanned roughly 4 years, and is ever on-going, a creative product of dedicated developers, testers and individuals. However, this mod would not be what it has become without the support, love and loyalty of our fanbase. A big thank you goes out to our fans for making this one of the most played mods for Battlefield 2!
Now on to the update. First, we have some vehicles that have been re-skinned in a new Panzergrau paint scheme.
Quote:Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. It's been a while since our last news but we are back today with some new content to show you. But before we get started we would like to welcome Benseras to our development team, who is responsible for today's map, Operation Cobra.
First off we have the P-51D Mustang which was kindly donated by clivewil of the Allied Intent Xtended mod.
The P51D Mustang was perhaps one of the most well recognizable aircraft of the US military, and more so, the entire war. This iconic fighter plane was first introduced to the Royal Air Force in 1942 when the British government requested a new plane to be built by the United States.
The P-51 originally served a reconnaissance and escort fighter for British bombers, however it was not until the D version of the airplane was introduced in 1944 that it became so well known. Now powered by a British Packard V-1560 engine, and equipped with six .50 caliber M2 Browning machine guns, and a large assortment of bombs and air-to-ground rockets, the P-51D played a large part in securing air superiority for the Allies over the skies of Normandy.
P-51 Mustangs saw action all over WWII, and were flown by many countries as well, including the US, UK, France, and Australia. They were flown by the Allies right up until the end of the war, and in all, a total of roughly 16,000 P-51 Mustangs were produced.
Next up we have a bunch of new screenshots from the map Operation Cobra by Benseras. This map showcases the attempted breakout of Normandy after the initial D-Day landings, between the US 30th Corps and the German defenders.
"Having been stuck in the Bocage of the Norman countryside for almost two months, Allied forces made their move. All attempts by the British and Canadians to push out of Normandy had all but failed. It would be down to the Americans to push onwards and shatter the German lines in the West of the beachhead. After a severe carpet bombing, Operation Cobra would launch with the US 30th Corps moving on the town of Hebecrevon. Little did they know that the German defensive line of Panther tanks had survived the bombing intact and were waiting for them..."
That's all for now, but be sure to come back next week for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Both are very good games, but I prefer Battlefield. Larger scale battle
#4 - Posted by: DevilDogTDC (Member) on 12-07-2009 at 11:42
i tried CoD4, didnt like it at all. battlefield on the other hand, the only one i havent liked is heroes
#5 - Posted by: MatmanDude (Member) on 12-08-2009 at 10:48
The only CoD I ever played was CoD: WaW but I never even bought the game just a demo. I liked some aspects of it but other ones I didn't like. I don't mind roughness all that much but it just seemed too raw.
I love the Battlefield series on the other hand. Battlefield 2 forever!
#6 - Posted by: Michael_Mikes (Member) on 12-09-2009 at 02:29
Battlefield hands down! Never got into the Call of Duty series, I just never liked it that much.
#7 - Posted by: Midget5019 (Member) on 12-10-2009 at 17:34
I like Both Call of duty needs to be played single player to enjoy it but battlefield is the opposite. BF2 and COD4

lol am i the only 1 that could vote?
both are great... but i prefer the BF games (as long EA/DICE dont gonna mess them up)
Sorry if it's a little late, I thought I already posted this, but it turns out I didn't So without further adieu, I give you some screenshots (as well as a video) of BattleGroup Frontlines' new tank. Enjoy
Quote:Welcome back to another update for Battlegroup Frontlines. Since last time we have been working hard to not only enhance our existing content, but to make new content that will be just as amazing, if not more amazing. The first thing we have to show off today is the Ferdinand tank, the small brother of the better equipped Elefant tank.
The Ferdinand was a heavy assault tank designed by Prof. Dr. Ing h.c. Ferdinand Porsche and built by the Nibelungenwerke, especially for the needs of the Eastern Front. Ferdinand’s design was based on Porsches Tiger – VK 4501 (P) prototype which proved to be prone to mechanical failures and was rejected in favor of Henschel’s Prototype that would later become the Tiger I. Operation Peacekeeper has posted some screenshots of a new sniper rifle, so enjoy
Quote:Well, on the OPK-wishlist you can find heavy Sniper-rifles.
After having it in the OPK versions for BF:V we will now release it for BF2. Some of our readers will still know the serbian army in OPK had its Anti-Material-Rifle.
Now the Bundeswehr gets an add-on for its snipers. With its 12.7mm x 99mm ammunation it can take out targets at about 1500 meters. It might be exciting to fight light vehicles as well those vehicles, whoose armor is not a problem for the G82. So drivers of Puch and other light vehicles: Attention! There is more waiting for you than a Panzerfaust.
Ingame there will be a limited number of these kits as another sniperkit upgrade.
The modelling was done by mR.d@hLa!, who made his OPK-debut with this. and Zefan from BF:Korea who did the last details.
