We are always looking for feedback from members and staff about the service we provide here on the Network. Sometimes this feedback is given in some very strange places instead of direct to us and as a result is either missed completely or mistaken for bitching at something else. To combat that we are opening the floor upto everyone to say what they think about the Network both good and bad.
This is a Network wide post so if you do wish to discuss a specific site then say which site you are referring to.
This will remain open for 1 week and at the end of that week a select few will be invited into our Vent server to discuss it further. This will give direct access to the NA's along with our managers who will be there to answer questions. This may then be recorded and made available to download.
As with any debate on this scale there are rules. These rules must be observed or your post will be deleted and in extreme cases you may be banned for the duration of the debate.
The rules
1) Observe all standard Network rules.
2) Be concise in your posts. Simply saying something sucks or I agree is not going to have your opinion noticed.
3) Post as much info as you can to put your point across and if possible include a example.
4) Be polite to other members even if you do not agree with them.
5) Be patient when waiting for a reply if you ask a question. We don't have all the answers but we will do our best to find them for you.
Straight from the EA UK forums: A new patch for BF: 2142 is in the making, and we will let you guys know when it has been released
Quote:That is part of the patch yes. [No DVD fix] I can't give you a date on when it will be done but programmers are still working on it here. Localisation has been completed and we have been in closed beta for a couple of weeks and fixing some issues that came up in those tests.
Localisation is due to us making the game in English and then the localisation process is where every other language gets translated and approved for use.So it goes out to each territory to get the game transalted to French, German, Spanish etc etc. Takes ages to do
Project Reality has announced the release of a beta that they're testing on some of their servers.
Quote:During the month of November, the Project Reality Team will be hosting a public beta test on a select number of community servers to test gameplay changes to the spawning mechanics of the mod. These changes will be made server side, so joining these servers will be the same as any other (all you need is PR v0.874).
There will be a few alterations made, however, they will all revolve around one primary change: the removal of Rally Point spawning. We are well aware that the mere thought of this change may scare a lot of you, but we must insist that everyone understands nothing here is written in stone. We want to find out the exact effect this will have on gameplay, and a public test is the best approach.
There are multiple reasons as to why we would like to experience PR without Rally Points:
RPs enable squads with little or no cohesion to continue to have a presence in battle, even when their presence near their RP is hampering the rest of the teams objectives. This means that you often see squads doing their own thing, instead of working as a team, towards the same objectives. Read the rest...
First Strike has posted some info as well as some screenshots of some new models.
Quote:As promised we are aiming to become more regular with our updates, and this week it gives us great pleasure to reveal several more key assets that will help flesh out and make the upcoming map Jundland Wastes feel more like that beat up lived in Star Wars Universe than any First Strike map that has come before it.
First off we have a few shots of a craft rarely realised in Star Wars games, the SoroSuub V-35 Courier landspeeder. A common utilitarian vehicle found across the galaxy. In our upcoming release you won't be able to drive it, but it will be parked in a familiar location. Who knows? In future releases we may well make this a pilotable vehicle. Read the rest...
BierPizzaChips released a Single-Player Map-Pack for Operation Peacekeeper 0.32 (OPK).
This Map-Pack is based on those five maps already posted for OPK 0.25 and includes a new one. Many enhancements had been implemented.
OPK offers since 0.3 the British Forces. These become available for intensive Single-Player fights in BierPizzaChips’s Map-Pack. Really nice are the matches between those new British Forces and the German Army.
21 new vehicles had been made available for these maps, 19 OPK vehicles had been tweaked to enable full support for Single-Player.
Those originally for OPK 0.25 posted maps had been tuned and enhanced with larger and better combat zones for Single-Player e.g. the large bridge in ‘Mineral Sribije’ can now be used by bots.
The installation of the map-pack does neither affect the original OPK maps nor any online match ability.

Forgotten Hope 2 has posted some renders, as well as some info about their upcoming patch.
Quote:Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. It's been a while since our last news, but we're back on track after our short post-release vacation. Today, we have three renders of brand new vehicles for our next patch, but before we carry on to those, we have some announcements...
First off, we just want to say we are all very glad with the enthusiastic reception of patch 2.2. There has been a definite increase in player count and the comments on the forum have been almost exclusively positive. To make sure all our new players keep playing, we are currently working on a small patch, which mainly focuses on adding more maps to our Normandy Theater of War. Of course, as you will see in this update, we will also add more vehicles and weapons to this patch. Secondly, we have added yet another new developer to our ranks. Please welcome Darren01, who modeled and skinned today's Bedford QL.
Our first render of today is of the British Crusader Mk III AA tank, which will be the allied counterpart to the German Wirbelwind on Operation Totalize in the next patch. The original Crusader tank was made by Omni and Toddel converted it into the anti-aircraft variant. Read the rest...

DC all the way in my opinion.

1918, FH, Bg'42, DC but do not forget the submodf from FH and DC

There a lot of pop-ups and other weird such-such going around here now. Pretty much completely harmless though. Just don't click on any random links and look at what's in your post's box before hitting enter.
I'd have to say either FH2 or GC. I can't decide though. Of course I like DC... eh one of those three.
#10 - Posted by: devils88 (Member) on 10-23-2009 at 11:04
FH and FHSW, BG42 and EOD
#11 - Posted by: slick08 (Member) on 10-23-2009 at 13:14
i prefer either interstate 82 or XWW2. i always thought that XWW2 was alot funner than fh in my opinion.

GC was the greatest mod of all time
#16 - Posted by: Finlandman (Member) on 10-25-2009 at 05:47
Voted DC, a bit more fun then FH for me. But FHSW evens it! Also I find DCFX to be a treat...
#17 - Posted by: Fragboy_o_jedi (Member) on 10-25-2009 at 08:56
lol, poll glitched, i voted for GC....
GC was the greatest cause it took BF into a new twist, with space combat (then Battlefront spawned)
DC was great, Pirates was nice, even the non cited EoD was excellent (which spawned BF:V)

Hello, this is Phatty2x4. Co-leader of the Interstate Nitro mod team for Battlefield 2. We've been pretty busy the past few months getting a lot of things done and I'm proud to say we're looking to patch Interstate Nitro in the near future. I can't be specific on a date, but I'm hoping for an official patch before 2010. I know that's pretty vague, but our team is very small. If you'd like to help out, just head on over to isnitro.com and fill out an app!
Onto the update: The biggest improvement to the mod and the focus of this news update is the addition of the new vehicles made by JazzDevil. They include detailed interiors(unlike our previous cars) and just better detail all around.
None of this would have been possible without JazzDevil and I'd just like to give a big THANK YOU to Jazzdevil.
This is going to be news update #1 out of #3 before our patch. Each news update will showcase 3 different vehicles that will be in the upcoming patch.
*Please note. Not all cars shown here are 100% finished and are subject to change.*
First is the new Picard Piranha:
Courcheval Cavera:
Jefferson Sovereign:
We'll be back soon with another update. We have alot more cars to show and you even get a little teaser in some of these pics of whats to come. Stay tuned!
BattleGroup 42 has posted some news about some updates to their site as well as some renders of two new planes
Quote:The Battlegroup42 team is greeting the community and is back with more news. We are of course busy working on our next version, 1.7 and there is already some new content. But in the time passed since the release of the latest patch we've spend most of the time working on other things which hadn't been paid much attention in the past.
Most of you who visit the Battlegroup42 homepage regularly may have noticed already the changes we've made to it. Beside all the work on maps and models it was time to update the website software. We took the opportunity to also re-work the design a bit. If you like the old look better you can change the settings in your profile.
Also new on our website is the menu point "Encyclopaedia". We've been asked quite often about an overview of the vehicles contained in Battlegroup42. Such an overview is now available: The BG42 content list ! This first version is supposed to help map creators who want to create new maps for BG42. Read the rest...

SP, vehicles and realism are what I look for in a game. If it lacks 2 or more of those I wont touch that game at all.
#2 - Posted by: brok (Member) on 10-15-2009 at 03:24
While I expect a good dose of ALL those options except realism in a BF game, if I could have voted I'd go SP w/ bots, because whenever a new BF is announced, that's the first thing I LOOK for to see if they've got off their asses and decided to make a fully rounded, complete game. Once I've figured out they've fudged decent bot support yet again, I just go back to bf'42 and wait despondently for its second coming.
...and bf1943 sure as hell ain't it.

Realism... Realism! Realism? *sigh* REALISM!!!!
Did I mention Realism? I think i made myself clear...
REALISMMMM!!!!

I really love if vehicles were included, but if they weren't and "REALISM" was around, i wouldn't mind.
Also I too'd go SP
#5 - Posted by: Fragboy_o_jedi (Member) on 10-17-2009 at 08:45
Realism? Battlefield? youre looking at the wrong place fellas.. go to call of duty =P
i love BF series for its arcade-ish enviroment
i voted for gameplay, but for me its a cobination of gameplay, era, vehicles, and of course, multiplayer
Singleplayer with bots doesnt cut it, the BF series (and all its copiesspin offs aka battlefront) are made to be enjoyed online with people
#6 - Posted by: cruisepoper (Member) on 10-17-2009 at 09:09

Nope, BF is more of a simulator
CoD is not that realistic compared to BF
#7 - Posted by: DevilDogTDC (Member) on 10-17-2009 at 12:03
CoD might have better graphics, but it is nothing compared to battlefield
#8 - Posted by: apexkiller31 (Member) on 10-17-2009 at 18:06
Realism in a BF game or COD?!?!?!? HA!!!! If you want realism, get Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, because it 's.
#9 - Posted by: computernerd (Staff) on 10-17-2009 at 18:40
Actually if you want true realism, go out and start a gun fight, it don't get much more real than that
#10 - @9 - Posted by: Mini_8ball (Member) on 10-17-2009 at 18:59
i think i might just go and do that, dont forget 2 turn the news on in a month and see me jailed for mass murder lol
if it doesnt have sp i wont buy, being australian i dont always have the best internet connection..
#12 - #11 - Posted by: Michael_Mikes (Member) on 10-18-2009 at 03:39
At Mini_8Ball, I have a strange feeling you are going to be banned.
lifeoftheparty, exactly, the best internet deals here suck either way compared to abroad (this is only a guess though).
#13 - Posted by: Qonos (Member) on 10-18-2009 at 09:04
Before I say what I was going to I will say BF and COD are both not realistic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MliSnIYwOSU&annotation_id=annotation_315085&feature=iv this is a COD 4 knife montage if it was realistic the knife animation would be slower. Also when he is reloading the MP5, It's done incorrectly. So neither are realistic though COD likes to make you think that way.
Now, In the next BF I would like to see singleplayer, slightly more realism, more vehicles, more people on server (128) without lag, excellent multiplayer, and the game is set in the Cold War where a war breaks out between NATO and the Warsaw Pact.
#14 - #14 - Posted by: Michael_Mikes (Member) on 10-18-2009 at 14:38
I'd prefer a modern (21st Century) world war where all the major nations (US, Russia, China, EU etc.) all go to war.
#15 - Posted by: Qonos (Member) on 10-18-2009 at 17:48
Bot are very interesting propisitions in my opinion
#16 - Posted by: Qonos (Member) on 10-18-2009 at 17:49
Quote:singleplayer, slightly more realism, more vehicles, more people on server (128) without lag, excellent multiplayer
lets see, singleplayer is unlikely considering the way EA has gone with game creation.
realism is a maybe depending on if they plan to go with the BFH/43 style or BFBC/BC2 style.
vehicles, well in BC2 they are going to be customisable so that works
128 people on a server without lag is impossible with current technology because they cant even run 64 people on a frostbite engine properly
excellent multiplayer..well..that does seem to be where EA and DICE are focusing their game design these days
#18 - Posted by: brok (Member) on 10-19-2009 at 05:44
I'd love to see a new battlefield with no less than 64 player sized battles, with well balanced vehicles either side that are all manually operated and player skill-dependent. It should also be set all over the world, involve the whole world, with combat in the air, on the ground, and on and under the sea in a way that is believable. Five different classes should just about do it... and it should be set during a violent period of history...
...say maybe just before the mid-20th century...
#19 - Posted by: heydabop (Member) on 10-19-2009 at 08:50
Singleplayer? No. Bots will NEVER act as humans do, especially since they can't "see".
Gameplay and MP for me, if it doesn't flow well or just isn't fun, then meh. My internet isn't too great, but I can get a sub 100-125 ping on a few servers, so it works.
#20 - Posted by: brok (Member) on 10-19-2009 at 20:11
Bots will never act as humans do?
You poor thing- you've obviously never played the UT games.
Unfortunately due to an error that happened many months ago, the potm section disappeared, so I've decided to bring it back. However, because the rating system is still kind of finicky, I, with the help of some of the staff, will choose the best candidates for POTM. Enjoy, and keep submitting those pics

Quote:Welcome back to another update of your favorite Gulf War modification. As promised on twitter, we now have two new maps that have not been announced yet. And here we go. First off, there are two new screenshots of our new map, called Weapon Facility, which was made by our fellow modder and lead Mapping Artist [EoD]Junglist. You have already seen this map, but here are two small teasers for your pleasure.
Now, let’s go to the new additions to the mod. The first new map we would like to show you, is the well-known Kashan Desert from the Project Reality Mod. We thought we would need a bigger map where you can take our big bad baby, the B52 Stratofortress, for a ride. Now, you finally can do so. Read the rest...

i hated heroes, what a waste of a game. ea needs to get back on their game and create games like battlefield 1942 again. i hate that it has 3rd person view, you have to pay for specials, that it is cartoonish, and that there isnt many maps, plus no mods
#3 - Posted by: Qonos (Member) on 10-06-2009 at 15:11
It's only OK I believe that if they had released BF3 however the community would have liked that more
#4 - Posted by: Chobram (Member) on 10-06-2009 at 15:53
Awful. On the rare occasions I CAN get on it, it is extremely laggy (I know it's not just my computer, I play Bf2 on a 64 person server fine). Plus, both sides have EXACTLY the same weapons (with different names and models) only 3 vehicles, and an emphasis towards "Buy extra stuff with real money."
#5 - Posted by: Qonos (Member) on 10-06-2009 at 19:46
I never have lag my brother however does..... wonder why
#6 - Posted by: brok (Member) on 10-07-2009 at 05:10
What DevilDog said, except I'm all for a 3rd person cam as an option. Give us the graphics of 1943, the physics and vehicles of 1942, with the gameplay of ArmaII or Op. Flashpoint or the first Mercenaries.

BattleGroup Frontlines has announced that they have started back up and have posted some screenshots of some new vehicles
Quote:Hello everyone and welcome to the 71st Battlegroup-Frontlines mod news. Firstly we would like to update you on our new website, which can be found here. We also would like to announce that BGF is back in business, as some of you have already noticed! After our long break, which started in the fall of 2008, we have now reawakened and are ready to bring the Eastern Front back to your living rooms!
In BGF 1.0 and 1.05, we focused on the early part of the war in the Eastern Front – 1940 to 1943. Now the time is almost right to push the Germans back westwards under the force of the Russian assaults, until we finally reach their capital – Berlin. The road to Berlin, from 1943 to 1945, will garrison you throughout all of the territories captured during the German advances up to the middle of 1943. The first step to victory will be the recapture of Stalingrad. Prepare yourself to be equipped with the latest weaponry, like the new delivered StG44, Tiger and Panther tanks as well as their Soviet counterparts such as IS-2 battle tanks, LaGG-3 fighter planes and lend-leased equipment shipped from the USA. Dawn of War: Dark Crusade Firestorm over Kronus mod
Finally, after working on it for over half a year, the FoK mod team presents you the latest, shiniest, best FoK release there has ever been. Firestorm over Kronus (FoK) is a modification for the Dawn of War RTS by Relic Entertainment. A closer-to-Tabletop gaming experience with modified gameplay, win conditions, models and tech trees. Introducing an Army Painter with randomised models (i.e. you won't see the same model twice if you view a unit more than once) - this feature is only partly implemented at this stage. An improved and extended UI that allow a truly Tabletop-range of squad choices, abilities and upgrades.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Recon Trooper's New Empire Side Mod
This side mod, by Recon Trooper, is a set of mostly visual changes for the stock Imperial side. The changes themselves are a very odd assortment, and it might be more appropriate to call this a collection of random assets from people rather than a true "sides mod," since it seems like most changes (retextures, models) are simply things other people made and the author downloaded and slapped together.

Knights of the Old Republic II: Flickering Lightsaber Blades
It's always nice when veteran modders return to the scene, so I'm very excited to review a new mod by my fellow staffer Mono_Giganto. To be frank the default saber's appearance sucked, and having just got a hold of some brand new game discs and starting this his game the author was immediately bothered by the lightsabers.

Overpowering saber mods used to be quite common, but it's been quite a while since I've seen one. They aren't creative, but some people find them amusing. This pack includes three overpowered sabers and one scepter of Ragnos.

Knights of the Old Republic II: Re Scored TSL Areas and Themes
Sisiana brings us another major music mod, this time re-scoring several of the planets and non-player character themes. I must confess this is a mod with which I have mixed thoughts; on the one hand I have to applaud the originality and skill that is used in the conception of this mod. On the other hand I have to reject the slights of the original TSL music score.

Far Cry 2: Neighborhood (v1.0)
Making a return to FarCry2Files, _Blackbird is here to showcase his newest map for your gaming enjoyment! With this download, you will definitely want to strap on some of your more trusty weapons and grab an extra clip or two! Neighborhood, or as the developer has also called it: Toys in the Hood 01, is due to the inspiration of a game called 'Re-Volt'. It's a little rusty, but it's a classic.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Mos Eisley Spaceport
There's a lot to see here, and it is of course best summed up by simply downloading the map and trying it out. What's most interesting about this map is the talented blending of stock assets with custom assets (the map is populated by a majority of the latter, although most are so well-done you wouldn't guess it at first glance). You can walk into an innocuous small building and all of the sudden find yourself in an underground pathway leading to several hangars and walking you under a large part of the map (this part specifically was probably my favorite), such is the level of detail.

Company of Heroes: Ardennas Village
This is an interesting map - not just because of the fact that it's a snow map (which we don't see enough of around here), but the fact that it's a well-done snow map. This map looks very nicely done, with good placement of roads, CPs, etc., which should ensure some interesting gameplay.

Company of Heroes: Monastery Hill
Its set in the french farmlands, fighting around a central monastery. Lots of farmland with two towns and varied height. There arent many choke points, so it favours a mobile fighting style with many flanking oppertunities. I have taken a lot of time to make this a visually appealing map, but i hope this doesnt hinder game play in terms of the proccessing thats required.

Jedi Knight III: Playable Model Pack
Fun. This is an old file that some of you may remember...it makes the hazard trooper, rocket trooper and Ragnos playable. Yes, Ragnos. You can play as Ragnos. Quite amusing, being able to float around as a ghost swinging your lightsaber. Even better still, I use the light side of the force, so testing this out in-game was even more awkward than ever. But even playing as Ragnos didn't protect me from Tavion's wrath. Stupid yawing NPCs...

Jedi Knight III: Vergil
Basically, Graves' Dante model has been reskinned into Vergil. Since they are twin brothers, the model is interchangeable between them - indeed, it looks good. The skinning work is well-done, too - the blue robes have some nice highlights/shadows. The vest looks very good as well. Everything seems as accurate as accurate gets.

Maybe... if EA doesn't F@!K up again and decides to NOT PORT IT ON THE PC.... AGAIN!!
Even worse, if they decide to put ORIGINAL Battlefield game modes and STILL dock it for the PC. I think i just might shove a gold bar up EA's Greedy ass if that'd happen.
