Battlefield 2 Community Update - Community Updates

The guys at EA Games have published a new community update. Take a look,

BF2 v1.12 Update
We at DICE and EA are committed to on-going support for Battlefield 2. We're pleased to see that so many of you are still playing the game on a regular basis and continue to support it and the community with some great mods and movies (We're big fans of the machinimas, so keep them coming guys, and MINE, you guys rock!).

We wanted to let you know that we're already hard at work on a post 1.12 update. While we can't go into details about it, yet, rest assured that we're checking the forums, listening to our customer support teams and working hard on the features that YOU'VE asked for. As soon as we can give more concrete details, we will. Just know that we're all 100% into making Battlefield 2 the very best that it can be.

Mod Tool Update
As part of our ongoing support for Battlefield 2 and the community, we're going to be releasing a new version of the Battlefield 2 Mod editor. This is a beta version of the editor and as such comes unsupported. However, we're sure you'll be happy with the additional functionality this tool provides for you eager modders.

We will be releasing the updated Mod Tool to a few individual Mod teams prior to getting it out to everyone else. This will be closely followed by a public release in a few weeks' time. We're really excited about being able to release this and look forward to seeing some great Mods out there.

Well, it's good to see that they are taking ideas and suggestions from you all, the community smile.

I, personally, am not a great fan about the fact that certain mod teams get the tool before other mods and the public. Not that it isn't a good way to beta test, it's just that it gives certain mods, that are already dominate, a leg up above the rest, which usually leads to the death of smaller, but sometimes better mods. Oh well, it's their product and their decision so no need to try and argue it. I like the news about them listening to community requests for future patches (hopefully they keep their word).

Hope that the editor isn't as much of a system hog though.

EA, you have alot of action to put behind that talk. From my past experience with you, you're all bark and less thatn enough bite. Make sure if you tell the community that you're going to do something, that it gets done, with the content promised, on the date promised to be released.

As for the mod tools, I think that they should be released publically, you already lagged them on and on enough to make any modder quit their project, so I would consider throwing some stones where the pile is low. Just my opinion.

I really hope the new mod dev kit is more like bc:v... I could actually make maps with that one... Bot the actual mod dev is pretty good, just wish it had some more instruction... I've had to figure out what most of the stuff does through hours of trial and error... And plz, for once, RELEASE SOMETHING ON TIME!!!!!!1!!!!!! I hate waiting, even more so when I have to wait even longer that I'm supposed to.
