Interviews > Battlefield 2: Modern Combat > $250,000 Tournament - Team Legends

If you have been keeping up on the Battlefield 2: Modern Combat tournament, you would know that it is down to two clans: Team Legends and Team Professional Skills. We recently had the chance to ask both teams some questions. The following interview is with the Legends team which is in the Xbox tournament.

1. What motivates you and your team the most when it comes to winning?
Competition motivates our team the most when it comes to winning because of each players competitive nature. Most of LGD's players at one time came from a team where they were the number one player. We have always had the will power to work ten to twelve hour days to be the best, however, with $250,000 for first place, our team became even more dedicated to always make practices on time.

2. What is the first thing you will do if you and your team wins this competition?
If we win this competition our teams confidence and dedication will prosper and we will continue to progress in our video game careers. LGD will become a business. We have already created a Halo team for the MLG 2006 season and we are planning to create multiple teams for multiple divisions across XBL.

3. What was the most challenging team yet, and what are you most intimidated about the team you are to face in the final challenge?
The most challenging team yet was Zero Hour, formally known as Armed and Dangerous. Throughout the last several years they have played many games similar to Battlefield 2, including Rainbow Six and have always been the most dominate team. LGD has always played a different game than Zero Hour and never ran into them until this tournament.

The main thing that intimidates our team about PS2's Pro Skillz is that we do not know what tactics, strategies or tricks they will employ.

4. How do you feel about being in the final round? Was your team expecting to make it this far?
The day that we saw the tournament posted "Battlefield 2 Tournament: $250,000" we knew that this could be an amazing opportunity to demonstrate our team work, tactics and leadership. LGD set out day one with only one goal in mind: To win! As the leader of our clan, I spent numerous hours developing strategies that would maximize each individual player's unique talents and abilities where they would best fit the team.

5. How much has your team been practicing for this final match? Are you prepared?
LGD prepared two twelve hour days before the final match for the XBOX finals. So far, we have rewritten multiple strategies and will continue testing them on topped ranked teams until the XBOX vs. PS2 final. LGD is completely ready to relish the rewards for all of the hard work and dedication that our team has put into this tournament.

6. What is the best experience you got out of this competition?
LGD and its members have grown very close on and off the Battlefield. We call each other daily, talk about new movies we have seen and hang out away from video games. We have learned that hard work pays off.

7. What, in your opinion, is the most important thing about having a clan and being in one?
We have learned that a clan becomes a bond between a group of players in which trust and teamwork build the foundation. Most of LGD members, including myself, would never play for any other team besides our own. Over the years, the members of LGD have become very close and would not feel at home playing for another team.

8. Who's gotten the most kills in the competition so far? Who has died the most?
There is really no way to determine who has killed the most and who has died the most because each player in every match has a different individual role.

Sometimes a player has a job to camp an outside base and only encounters 10 guys the whole match. Other players are designated free-lancers and their whole job is to kill enemy soldiers. Someone in the free-lancer position would have 50 kills a match versus the guy who sits at a base at the end of the map, who gets less than 10 kills. However, every role is important because if someone doesn't complete their role it may cost the whole team.

9. What motivated you the most to start playing Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. What about joining the competition?
LGD, and most of the other clans we know bought a BF2 copy and started playing battlefield solely based upon the tournament and prize money available for winning it.

10. What is(are) your favorite map(s)?
Deadly Pass would probably be LGD's favorite map. It is the best designed map. DeadlyPass is in second.

11. What is(are) your favorite game(s) of all time? Your favorite platform(s)?
Most of LGD really loves Unreal Championship because that is where our clan was formed. We are Xbox fans for life and XBL is a genius idea that will forever map Xbox as a popular console. Other favorite games include Halo: CE, BF2: MC, Halo 2.

12. How did you and your clan members meet?
    We met through Xbox Live.

13. How did you learn to play the game so well?
LGD played the game non stop for weeks. We analyzed each weapon and character and figured out what tactics worked best in killing and defeating other clans. We played all of the other top clans in the game and always learned a few new tricks each game. We were able to learn from other teams and create new strategies each and every time we played. We built inter-clan competition which brings out the best in us because we compete against each other so vigorously.

14. How long did you train for this competition?
LGD trained day and night for weeks, sometimes until 5am in order to accomplish out goals. As a whole, LGD practiced intensely for one month.

15. Is there anything else you would like to say to the large community of Battlefield Files?
We would like to thank EA for the tournament and the amazing opportunity to play in the first ever tournament of this caliber on XBOX Live! We are also grateful for the incredible design and game play of Battlefield 2 Modern Combat. Our clan has learned so much and we look forward to continuing our gaming career with the hopes of gaining a sponsorship.

Thanks to Scott, the community, EA, both teams, and everyone else for this great opportunity.
