The year is 2142, and the dawn of a new Ice age has thrown the world into a panic. The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth's population. The math is simple and brutal: some will live, most will die.
In Battlefield 2142™, players choose to fight for one of two military superpowers - the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition -in an epic battle for survival.
Armed with a devastating arsenal of hi-tech weaponry, including assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, players will also take control of the most lethal vehicles known to man. Massive battle Walkers wage fierce combat on the ground, while futuristic aircraft rule the skies. When taking on this futuristic armor players will need to use their wits and an arsenal of new hi-tech countermeasures like EMP grenades and smart mines to level the playing field.
Epic online gameplay for up to 64 players drops gamers on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their team-mates.
For the first time in the history of the franchise, Battlefield 2142 will include a brand new game type to complement the classic conquest game. The epic, new Titan mode challenges gamers to destroy the opposing army's Titan - a massive, heavily armored, flying warship - while defending their own. To defeat a Titan, gamers must first take down its shields, board the craft and fight to its inner core before detonating it from the inside. This genre leading gameplay innovation changes the way you play, encouraging both teamplay and strategy in explosive large-scale confrontations.
With in-game success, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals and more, delivering the most comprehensive and flexible persistence in the Battlefield universe to date.
Extras
Maps
Brand new locations and scenarios - set in the year 2142.
Most of the maps are based in North Africa (since this is where most of the remaining land is)
Teams and Classes
Players can play as the "American-European Alliance" (Continental America and most of Europe) or "Pan Asian Coalition" (made up of Russia, Middle East, India).
No Far East countries - possible add-on in the future?
Vehicles
Heavily influenced by futuristic sci-fi movies, such as Aliens.
Similar mix of vehicles as in previous Battlefield titles (tanks, APCs, transport, etc.), but with the addition of Mechs.
Mechs are armed with an anti-aircraft gun, TOW anti-tank rocket launchers, and anti-infrantry mini-guns on each arm
Other vehicles will be given more powerful weaponry to balance this out, such as EMP
Helicopters are replaced by blade-less hovering ships
Fighter jets are to be included, but details aren't yet known
Weapons
Although futuristic-looking, still based on current weapon technology on the whole (ordinary bullets).
EMP grenades to scramble vehicles' vision and reduce their speed
Number of new mines to use: Chaser (anti-tank)
Artillery will still be included

I cant wait to ***** in the toilets...WOOHOO! As for the BETA, just snake it off Bit Torrent when it comes out, forget paying FP $2.85 for something that should be free anyways. EA is cranking all the money they can by making people pay for something that EA would normally have to pay someone to do for them. But, if people pay it, why not, its good business. It goes along the same lines as someone paying for something they never get to do but would like the chance, would you pay for me to take you on a tour of the Microsoft Campus? Or the chance to fire the newest Military assault rifle before it gets issues? You might not, but someone certainly will and thats what EA is basing the pay-to-play scheme on. I cant wait till it comes out, its gonna

#18 - Too Early - Posted by: Saigonsentence (Member) on 10-01-2006 at 19:30
They are bringing this out too early! half the mods for BF2 arent even finished. i reckon Dice should do a re-make of BF1942 rather than this!
#19 - I believe some of the un-supported soundcards are no longer unsupported - Posted by: mastermc0 (Member) on 11-06-2006 at 07:25
I believe some of the soundcards listed as being unsupported are now supported. I am using a C-Media 8378 with latest drivers and it works great.
Thanks
#20 - OMG! - Posted by: 2mile_high (Member) on 01-31-2007 at 00:53
I know this probable won't get read. But still, you've gotta be kidding me, of course they wanna make money off there games. NOBODY is going to make games for free and sell it to the genreal public. Why not! you pay a good price for movies, of course there is going to be a bigger target market for the movies then PC games.
#21 - System Reqs. - Posted by: mewo (Member) on 03-12-2007 at 14:50
Hey. if this is a modified engine of BF2, doesnt that mean that I can run it with the same hardware?
Heres my specs:
GFX Card: Nvidia 6150 LE
OS: Windows Vista (Lol, as if that helps )
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 2.2Ghz
Direct X Version: DX10
1GB RAM
1GB Page File
GFX Card Mem: 313mb (I'm not quite sure on this one...would that make it a 256 or 512?)
Sound Card: Couldnt find it...But BF2s audio is *****ty for me
I think thats enough, cause I can run BF2 on max with full resolution
#22 - Posted by: hitman118118 (Member) on 04-09-2007 at 12:28
