Battlefield 1942 > Console Commands

Note: On this page you will find some of the game commands that you may enter while you're connected to a Battlefield 1942 server. While we discourage the use of admin console commands, you may still use them. However, they will not be displayed on this page (please see the ReadMe file in your Battlefield 1942 directory for admin console commands). If you're a server administrator, stop using the console to deal with your commands! Instead, use the Black Bag Operations Battlefield 1942 Server Manager utility. You can manage every setting possible from a very nice user-friendly interface!

To open the console window, press the tilde (~) key (usually next to the number one on your keyboard). Once you have the console window opened, you can enter any of the following commands:

name (e.g. name Bob) - You can use this command to change your game name from within the game. Please note that you will not be able to use any spaces. If you wish to use spaces, please hit the Esc key on your keyboard, go into Options, Customize, and enter a new name. When finished, click Save, and then Esc again to return to the game.

hud <0/1> (e.g. hud 1) - When set to "1", the hud will be displayed. When set to "0", the hud will not be displayed. What is the "hud", might you ask? The hud is everything you see on your screen that gives you the details of your soldier. This includes, but is not limited to: tickets display, radio commands menu, mini-map, score board, spawn board, soldier health, weapon ammo, and player text. Hud is usually only disabled if you're going to be recording a video.

fps <0/1> (e.g. fps 1) - When set to "1", your FPS will be displayed. When set to "0", your fps will not be displayed (set to 0 by default).The displaying of FPS is usually only used when you're troubleshooting your computer's performance.

buddy (e.g. buddy Bob) - Add a buddy to your buddy list.

unbuddy (e.g. unbuddy Bob) - Remove a buddy from your buddy list.

ignore (e.g. ignore Bob) - Ignore a player's text messages.

unignore (e.g. unignore Bob) - Unignore a player's text messages.

These are probably all the main commands that you might use. All other commands can be managed from the game menu. For a full list of console commands, click here.

Just noting that you CAN use spaces in the name command, like this:
name "Major Lag" would set your name to Major Lag.

  4. No Cursing or Swear words. We encourage you to use our comment sections as a forum to debate files, news, etc., but please use proper adjectives to express yourself. We will not tolerate abuse upon another member or author.
