It is good to see that people are still creating maps for the series that started it all, Battlefield 1942. As I am a Mac user/head, I have the Macintosh release of the game and I love it, as it runs 10 times better than it ever did on my PC. Thank you and good job.

Ships require landing zones, landing zones require many many more hours of ai coding and pathmapping. the Fletcher is included in mp, but not active in sp/co-op because the bots love to spawn on it and just hang out there without joining in the fight. Maybe I'll make a later version that will start from the Fletch and include landing strategy with all neutral cp's except for the turk spawns, but that also means having a seperate strategy for that, then getting the ai to switch once the beach has been capped without all freaking out and crashing.

Ahh if only there was more time in the day and less time I had to work.

I'll gladly code landingcraft for you if you'd like. I have tons of spare time.

Gallipoli was an invasion of ANZACS (Australian New Zealand Army Corps).
They had NO ships and no defence systems as they weren't required. Gallipoli is an EXTREMELY in Australian history. Tens of thousands of ANZACS were lost to the Turish and Germans.

"Gallipoli is an EXTREMELY in Australian history" -what the heck does that mean?

Good stuff with having SP in the map. It's still the wrong war, but who cares!? RussianComrade, if you're willing to code the landing craft that would be absolutely fantastic mate!

Nice one, maybe set the beach to neutral and have all troops spawn from the fletch, but the beach that the ANZACs landed on was totally unprotected, thus I placed no defense there. Originally the British ships were meant to bombard the turkish machinegun emplacements until the AU/NZ troops were ready to assult the flats, but due to bad planning, the shelling was stopped prematurely and by the time the ANZACs went 'up and over', the mg nests were back in operation and basically mowed the troops down as they left the trenches.
It has been argued more than once that the attack should never have continued once it was established that the turks were ready and waiting, but wave after wave of men were sent to their death at the insistance of british command.

So you know how unprotected the beach was, when the order was eventually given to withdraw, the only casualty was a broken leg during the entire extraction.
The Gallipoli attack is a major part of Australian history and the map I created was designed to emulate the setting as much as possible with the original images available and my average mapping skills.

I have begun work on Kokoda Trail as well so it should be ready to go soon, just a few things to touch up on the ai and it will be ready

Tried out this map on our server and it would have stayed but you can walk and shoot thru the fence and walls. Poor quality
